About a decade ago I was graduating as an Art Major from Bridgewater College, a small liberal arts college in the Shenandoah Valley, Virginia. Since graduation, I focused on developing my career as a teacher, met and married the love of my life, and birthed two wonderful boys. There has been so much transition in my life that making art, it seemed, was often on the back burner. I have spent countless hours teaching young people how to make art, but have dreamed of more time to develop my own.
In 2010, I started a small business called "Heartbeat Portraits" specializing in custom ultrasound paintings of babies in the womb (Baby's First Portrait). I completed portraits for many clients, but ultimately felt to close the "official" business in 2012 when I was hired for another teaching position the same summer that our second son was an infant. I have painted commissioned pieces for businesses, donated paintings for fundraiser auctions, crafted many wedding gifts, and most recently started painting during worship services at church. Last month my family moved to the Warrenton, VA area and I am super excited because for the first time in quite awhile I have a studio!!! Even though it is in the master bathroom (I'm not kidding) there is amazing lighting and space for me to work. I love to talk about my work. If you want to know more about a certain piece or EVEN BETTER want to order a commissioned painting or print, please check out my contact page. |
